Don't make this mistake in General Writing Task 1

There's one mistake that often stops people getting the score they deserve in the writing test, and it's this:


For example, read this Writing Task 1 question below:

You’ve just discovered that your favourite professor at university is moving to a new institution. Write a letter to him or her.

  • Say how you feel about him or her leaving.

  • Say why you enjoyed his or her lectures so much.

  • Ask some questions about his or her future plans.

The final bullet point contains a plural: Ask some questions.

So you need to ask two or more questions.

If you only asked one question, you would get a low score for Task Achievement.

This tiny mistake could stop you from getting the score you deserve in the IELTS test.
